After 20 years working in private practice, Gretchen has learned a lot about how people function and what causes our issues and challenges. Gretchen has collated all the most important things she used to share with people in the counselling room, including teaching an understanding as to why humans work the way they do, the easy ways we get tripped up and the most helpful tips and strategies to stay well in her training arsenal. Gretchen Mitchell loves to bring people into freedom. This usually involves helping set people free from the things they believe about themselves and the world that are unhealthy or untrue. During sessions, she works on two levels: teaching practical strategies and skills to help you with the issues at hand, and then deeper work to discover where the issue comes from and bringing healing into that area of trauma or pain.
Gretchen has been a psychologist working in Private Practice since 2006. Prior to that she worked as a Youth Worker for five years. She has now finished up her one-one-one counselling practice at Easter 2026 to pursue training of groups and businesses in team wellness and mental health.
You can meet Gretchen at her offices, out at a coffee shop, park or even on the beach if you would prefer.
She was the Chairperson for the Sunshine Coast Branch of the Australian Psychological Society (Australia’s largest body representing psychologists) from 2019-2021 and was a regular voice on Salt 106.5FM the Morning Wake Up with her “Think Well, Be Well” segment until recently.
