Gretchen Mitchell loves to help people grow in practical skills to overcome challenges, to see people set free from unhealthy mindsets and to watch people operating in their full potential. Gretchen works with "normal" people during a transition time in their lives. She considers it a privilege to listen to the deep things you may not have shared with anyone ever before and offers a non judgmental space to share what's on your heart. She is kind and thoughtful and answers your questions with wisdom never expecting something from you that she wouldn't expect from herself. Gretchen would consider it an honour to journey with you for a season.
She is currently the Chairperson for the Sunshine Coast Branch of the Australian Psychological Society and is a regular voice on Salt 106.5FM Monday Morning Wake Up with the “Think Well, Be Well” segment.
Gretchen has been a psychologist working in Private Practice since 2006. Prior to that she worked as a Youth Worker for five years. In that time she has encountered many different types of people and issues and as a result has grown particular skills and interests in the following areas:
Gretchen offers counselling to male and female clients aged 10 years and older.
Gretchen predominantly use a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework with some Mindfulness, Choice Theory and Schema Therapy thrown in to spice things up a bit!
Counselling sessions run for 55 minutes.
Gretchen understands that some people (especially children) feel more relaxed in a less formal setting, so she is able, when it works with the schedule, to meet you outside of her offices at a coffee shop, park or even at the beach.
